It would be an absolute breeze to make a high res duplicate of a check and then cash the thing 2 or more times. If you need a copy do so in BW and make it 150% or more, 75% or less the size and it might just work. If the copier still detects it’s a banknote even without being able to scan it, then it must be picking up on something in the paper. You could also try folding the bill in half, to see if you can just copy parts of it.
